Thanks John, nice photo! I'll use this to replace the the existing stock photo for this location as this is the first picture we have.

Hi Will get back to you about some pics. I remember the last school summer holidays i had, it was 1975, i used to go down and see the chub sunning themselves in the shallows, i remember there were 20 to 30 of them in this shoal, all 3 to 5lb bracket, i know as i caught a few of them, i used to sneak down and used bread crust as bait, it was great fun, the water was gin clear, you used to see the fish take the bread. There were 2 shoals in our stretch, the other was in a deep pool we called the chubbery. Havent seen a chub in the lyne since the mid 1990's let alone caught one. regards

River Lyne cumbria I am a local Chub, yes Dace, yes Grayling, possible, never seen any though Perch and Gudgeon, no chance, dont know where you have got that from Brown Trout, yes Sea Trout, yes Flounders, yes Eels, yes Salmon, some, not many I have fished the lyne since the early 1970's, since then the river has suffered from cyamag and silage effluent pollution, + electro fishing, people around here dont like coarse fish. in the 70's 5lb + chub were commonplace and a guy killed a 6 and a half pounder whilst fishing for sea trout in a flood. Somebody put some roach in years ago, though i would say they are now long gone. The river appears clean now and apart from some brownies, nothing much is seen. In the 70's the lyne was great, even matches were held on it, now its a shadow of its former self. Desperate for a re stock of chub and dace to bring back the natural balance of the river.

Thanks for the information John, I'm sure it will help others. The species came from the Environment Agency, but sometimes it is in need of a refresh, so we really appreciate comments from locals who know an area well such as yourself. It sounds like this river has had a tough time over the years! If you have any pictures of the area, that would be useful?

The river is still a small bit damaged with manure. Never caught a salmon or seen them running

We’re still passionate about fishing and our goal has been to make it easier than ever to find the best places to fish in the UK and get the latest and most useful information about them.

We have made considerable changes to the look and feel of the website, but our key goal here is to make it easier to see locations and fishery details across all devices. We have many other developments in the pipeline, including an App, as well as social media integration so you can use live4fishing inside Facebook. So we want to encourage you to comment, review and add photos so we can all get the best information we can.

Now we have phase one up and running, we will also be dedicated to answering questions on fisheries, and making sure peoples comments and updates are smooth and quick to make sure we have all the latest information on competitions, lakes and contact details for fisheries.

If you are a fishery owner and you’re not listed on here, your details are wrong, or if you would just like to add information about future events, then please do shout. Also, if you’ve got any more ideas of what we can do then please do help.
