This 4 acre lake is quite picturesque and has ample parking for approximately 15 cars. The entrance to this venue looks quite narrow but have no fear as I drove my Audi A4 into and down the steep gradient leading to the Car Park there. The Car Park has a lovely wooden humpback footbridge which takes you on a 400metre walk to the lake. The lake has a good amount of park benches around Furnace Pond and roughly 14 pegs and 1 disabled peg which is made from metal bars with a concrete base, it is solid and will fill any wheelchair users with utter confidence in it's structure. The lake is free of litter, well maintained and one could imagine that you are almost at a private fishery such is the appearance of the this venue. The lake had a makeover in 1987 but the picnic area lets it down, there is a picnic table that has warped out of shape very badly, I wouldn't sit on it as I fear it would collapse under a person who weighs a 100kg or more. There are Carp that are 29lbs+ in this lake, nice sized Roach and lovely Bream that are not hybrid in any way I have come across. Supposedly there are Pike in this lake, but I refute this as I have fished for them two weeks in a row using lures, Blueys, Mackrel and Smelt and no Predator fish are in evidence at this lake. A word of caution when exiting this venue be very, very careful when you go up the one way exit, because as you go up the small hill and it levels out you will suddenly find yourself on the main road with fast flowing traffic from your right which you have to crane your around to the right just to able to see them. Tight Lines!

Fantastic review David, thank you! These are exactly the kind of reviews we need to give a real world perspective beyond the postcodes, phone numbers and maps.

The Live4 mission

We want this to be the most comprehensive directory of UK fishing locations. We are trying to get every UK Fishery and fishing spot on here, as well as all the best freshwater and sea fishing locations – but we will need help. We currently have nearly 6,000 UK freshwater angling spots listed.

If you know of a fishery or free angling location that is not listed here, please drop us a line with the contact page.

If you are a fishery owner and you would like us to add more information to your listing, just do the same and we will get back to you to sort things out.

Welcome to our new Site

Welcome to our new Live4fishing site. We’ve spent a long-time re-building it to better serve our users and we’ve got some really exciting developments coming along soon too.

We’re still passionate about fishing and our goal has been to make it easier than ever to find the best places to fish in the UK and get the latest and most useful information about them.

We have made considerable changes to the look and feel of the website, but our key goal here is to make it easier to see locations and fishery details across all devices. We have many other developments in the pipeline, including an App, as well as social media integration so you can use live4fishing inside Facebook. So we want to encourage you to comment, review and add photos so we can all get the best information we can.

Now we have phase one up and running, we will also be dedicated to answering questions on fisheries, and making sure peoples comments and updates are smooth and quick to make sure we have all the latest information on competitions, lakes and contact details for fisheries.

If you are a fishery owner and you’re not listed on here, your details are wrong, or if you would just like to add information about future events, then please do shout. Also, if you’ve got any more ideas of what we can do then please do help.
